DEGAUSSING
SERVICES
What is Degaussing?
dE-'gaus : to remove or neutralize the magnetic field of <degauss
a magnetic tape> - de·gauss·er noun
Degaussing is the process of "ERASING" the recorded signal
on most magnetic data storage by passing through a strong magnetic
field, which restores them back to their original or "blank"
condition. This process recycles your surplus tape as a new data
storage.
Why should most magnetic media and tapes
be degaussed?
Do not throw away old surplus tapes. Tape should be degaussed for
many reasons. Increase data security. Eliminate viruses and/or corrupt
data. Conform to privacy and media storage laws. Restore many types
of storage media back to its original condition. Improve recording
performance. Save money by recycling or reusing old storage. Achieve
tape drive and cartridge compatibility.
Why do most companies not degauss their
own tape?
MONEY! Most companies do not want the added cost of expensive equipment
and additional labor costs. By handling thousands of pieces each
month, we are able to provide an easy and economical way for companies
to reduce costs and increase their backup performance. Please contact
us for additional information about our services, our buy-back list,
and a sample Confidentiality/Non-Disclosure Agreement to ensure
the security of your data.
